In December Tarek Atoui will re-inhabit De Thomas, a Protestant church in our Amsterdam Zuid neighborhood, for a one-time concert, engaging once again in a dialogue between traditional musical forms and experimental electronic compositions.
Atoui continues his long-term research trajectory with The Sahara Chapter, a three-year research project commissioned by Hartwig Art Foundation. The Sahara Chapter forms part of Atoui’s broader research and exhibition project At-Tāriq (2022–ongoing). It was launched in March 2025 at De Balie, Amsterdam and continued in March 2026 at De Thomas, Amsterdam with a sold-out concert.
