Julien Creuzet opens his solo exhibition at Brown with the performance Algorithm ocean true blood moves, a piece commissioned by Performa and Hartwig Art Foundation.  

Algorithm ocean true blood moves, Creuzet’s first-large-scale performance, continues the artist’s explorations into the history of trade, displacement, and diaspora. In collaboration with choreographer Ana Pi, Creuzet draws on a collection of movements by online content creators of African descent. The movements, gathered by the artist from social media over the years, unveil unexpected, yet intimate connections between steps that exist in different times and geographies across the Black Atlantic. 

Following the performance at The Lindemann Performing Arts Center, the sculptural poles used by the dancers during the performance will be installed in the exhibition space as part of Creuzet’s exhibition Attila cataract your source at the feet of the green peaks will end up in the great sea blue abyss we drowned in the tidal tears of the moon, where they will remain for the duration of the exhibition (until 1 June 2025).
